What is a Windows Azure Boot Camp?

Windows Azure Boot Camp is a one to three day deep dive class to get you up to speed on developing for Windows Azure. The class includes a trainer with deep real world experience with Azure, as well as a series of labs so you can practice what you just learned. ABC is more than just a class, it is also an event in a box. If you don't see a class near you, then throw your own. We provide all of the materials you need to host your own class, as well as guidance and giveaways. This can be for your company, your customers, your friends, or even your family. Please let us know so we can give you all of the details.

The Windows Azure Boot Camp program was conceived by Brian H. Prince and was started as an initiative of Microsoft to help developers and decision makers learn about Windows Azure. The program has since been turned over to the Community. Microsoft still graciously supplies a great deal of materials to us, but this is no longer a program directly sponsored or executed by Microsoft. The WABC Program doesn't plan or organize these events directly, rather we help others put on great events by providing guidance, materials and giveaways.

How is this different from a Windows Azure Dev Camp?

You may have heard about Windows Azure Dev Camps and are wondering what the differences are. One big difference is that Microsoft is the direct organizer of the Windows Azure Dev Camps. These are events planned and ran by Microsoft or their partners. Check out their schedule to see if one is coming to a city near you.

In contrast the Windows Azure Boot Camps are hosted and organized by the Development Community, often by User Groups. There is a lot of overlap in the materials for these events as much of them are pulled from the Windows Azure Training Kit. If you can't find a Dev Camp coming to you, then check our schedule. If you don't see a boot camp near you either, then we'd be happy to help you organize one!

Awesome. How much does it cost?

These events should be FREE to the attendees.

How do I attend one?

Just find a city and date on the schedule that works for you. Click through to see the details for that class, and then register. Keep in mind you will most likely need to bring your own laptop to do the labs. Feel free to put this badge on your site or blog to show off that you are coming.

What do I need to bring?

For most boot camps, you will need to bring your own laptop, and have it preloaded with the software listed here. An extension cord would help as well.

There isn't one near me? Now what?

Throw your own! We will help you put on your own boot camp. Contact us for more details.
